We are looking for an experienced and strategically minded Senior Account Manager to join our social media agency.
You will take ownership of a portfolio of client accounts, acting as a trusted strategic partner and ensuring that our work delivers against each client’s marketing objectives and commercial goals. You will lead the development of account and campaign strategies, oversee delivery, manage budgets and timelines, and maintain strong, positive client relationships.
Working closely with our wider team across planning, creative, content, production, influencer and social media, you will translate client objectives into clear briefs. You will provide direction throughout the delivery process, quality-control outputs and ensure client work is completed to a high standard, on time and within budget each month.
This role is suited to someone who combines excellent client service with strategic thinking, commercial awareness and a strong understanding of social media marketing. You will be comfortable taking responsibility, making decisions and being accountable for the success of your accounts, while remaining a collaborative and supportive member of the wider team.
Key responsibilities:
Client leadership and relationship management
- Act as the senior day-to-day contact for a portfolio of client accounts.
- Build trusted, long-term relationships with clients by developing a strong understanding of their businesses, audiences, challenges and ambitions.
- Provide proactive, strategic advice rather than simply responding to client requests.
- Lead client meetings, status updates, strategy sessions, presentations and performance reviews.
- Manage expectations clearly and confidently, including when navigating changing priorities, challenging feedback or scope considerations.
- Maintain high levels of client satisfaction, retention and advocacy.
- Identify opportunities to add value, deepen relationships and grow accounts.
Strategy and planning
- Lead the development of marketing strategies that support wider brand and commercial objectives.
- Translate client objectives into clear channel strategies, campaign plans, content approaches and measurable KPIs.
- Ensure strategic recommendations are informed by audience insight, platform behaviour, cultural trends, competitive activity and performance data.
- Understand how social media connects with the wider marketing mix and advise clients accordingly.
- Work closely with our team of specialists to develop integrated and effective recommendations.
- Regularly review and evolve account strategies based on performance, changing client needs and new opportunities.
Campaign and project delivery
- Oversee projects and campaigns from initial brief through to final delivery and evaluation.
- Create clear, focused and actionable briefs for internal teams.
- Ensure that all contributors understand the client’s objectives, audience, deliverables, timings and measures of success.
- Proactively resolve issues before they affect quality, budget or deadlines.
- Ensure work is delivered on time, within scope and to the agreed standard.
Quality control
- Review strategies, creative concepts, content, campaign materials, reports and presentations before they are shared with clients.
- Ensure that all work is strategically sound, accurate, on-brand and aligned with the original brief.
- Provide clear, constructive and timely feedback to internal teams.
- Maintain excellent attention to detail across written communications, documentation and deliverables.
- Protect the quality and consistency of both the client experience and the agency’s output.
Performance and analysis
- Work closely with our Social Media Manager to ensure we are hitting our KPIs
- Ensure reporting focuses not only on activity, but also on outcomes, learning and recommendations.
- Use insights to optimise current activity and inform future strategic planning.
Commercial management
- Take responsibility for the commercial health of assigned accounts.
- Manage budgets within client projects.
- Ensure work remains within agreed parameters.
- Identify and address scope changes promptly and professionally.
- Support forecasting, revenue planning and account growth initiatives.
- Recognise opportunities to introduce additional services where they would create genuine value for the client.
- Contribute to proposals, pitches and new business presentations.
Team collaboration and leadership
- Work collaboratively with the team across strategy, creative, content, production, influencer marketing, paid media and other specialist disciplines.
- Build strong internal relationships and encourage open, respectful communication.
- Create the clarity and conditions teams need to deliver their best work.
- Balance client needs with the expertise, wellbeing and capacity of the wider team.
- Share knowledge, best practice and account learnings across the agency.
- Contribute positively to the agency’s culture, values and ways of working.
