We are currently looking for trainee Asbestos Surveyor/Analysts to help grow our team.
This is a great career opportunity and the first step in a career in asbestos management.
You will embark on a structured training and development programme to achieve nationally recognised qualifications through paid study and working in the field with our experienced Trainers and Surveyors.
At each stage of your progression, your status and salary will be enhanced to recognise your increasing skills and experience. After completion of your training period and becoming fully authorised, you will work in the field on client projects in both domestic (housing) and complex properties (e.g. railway stations, shops, hospitals).
- You will need to be pro-active, have excellent eyesight and be of calm and patient nature.
- You will need to be IT literate and have experience of using MS Word and Excel.

Experience / knowledge of working with stereomicroscopes/polarised light microscope is desirable, though not essential
- You will be required to have good communication skills both written and verbal and be able to work well with colleagues across all areas of the business.

- You will need to communicate daily with colleagues via telephone and email.
The core role would be either client site or office based, and once trained and authorised, you will be undertaking various types of asbestos surveys, and air monitoring for clients.
- Management Survey – A Management Survey is generally referred to as a standard survey. The purpose of this survey is locate, as far as reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of any suspect asbestos containing materials (ACMs) in a building.
- R&D Survey (Refurbishment and Demolition Survey) - A refurbishment / demolition survey is required where the premises, or part of it, need upgrading, refurbishment or demolition. The survey does not need a record of the condition of asbestos-containing materials (ACM). A Refurbishment / demolition survey aims to ensure that nobody will be harmed by work on ACM in the premises or equipment.
- Air Monitoring - Involves testing the air to measure the level of respirable airborne asbestos fibres in an area during work on asbestos containing materials. Control monitoring is designed to test the effectiveness of control measures while work or removals is undertaken on asbestos containing materials.
- To proactively engage in the training and development provided by the company.

Once trained and authorised, to undertake management and refurbishment & demolition surveys, take bulk samples and provide clearly presented and well written site notes on the tablet.
- To provide advice to clients ancillary to the survey. Facilitate and oversee removal works where required.
- To provide asbestos analytical services to clients, including air monitoring, fibre counting and (where so qualified) bulk sample analysis.
- To be up to date with asbestos legislation, guidance and industry best practice including UKAS accreditation and quality management arrangements.
- To be up to date with relevant legislation including Health and Safety.
- To support the business by working flexibly and responsively from the company’s office or from clients sites as required.
- To take personal responsibility for maintaining technical expertise and an awareness of current issues in the sector.
- To comply with the company’s quality management arrangements including participating in the quality assurance arrangements and audit programme.
- To act within the expectations of conduct and attitude of employees in their role as ambassadors of the company.
- To be proactive to ensure that work is delivered on time by all areas of the business.
- To meet all legal obligations required to be met by the company as a provider of asbestos related services and an employer.
- To take personal responsibility to meet own billing and productivity targets.
