Plant Centre Assistant – Full Time – Permanent Pay: From £12.71 per hour
Love Plants at Salop Leisure Love Plants is a traditional plant centre based at Salop Leisure, offering an extensive range of hardy plants backed by horticultural knowledge and traditional customer service.
Horticultural qualifications or plant knowledge are preferred, as the successful candidate will be required to advise, guide and provide technical expertise to customers. Full training will be given to meet the specific requirements of our business.
Hours of work: 8.45am to 5.30pm (Sunday 9.45am to 5.30pm). Full time, including alternate weekends, with a day off in the week. Flexibility to work outside normal hours to cover occasional shows/open evenings would be useful.
Qualities/Skills we are looking for:
- Horticultural qualifications and industry experience preferred
- Plant and horticultural knowledge
- Passion for plants
- Awareness of gardening seasons
- Good communication and sales skills
- High standard of customer service
- Ability to handle customer queries effectively and efficiently
- Happy to work outside in all weather conditions
- Good level of physical fitness (role involves some lifting/outdoor work)

- Merchandising skills
- A team player
- Basic IT skills
- Full driving licence desirable
Duties will include:
- Meeting and greeting customers, advising on plant choice & care
- Processing deliveries
- Maintaining plant stock
- Merchandising stock
- Creating seasonal displays
- Watering, pruning, etc.
- Ensuring plant area is well presented at all times
- Operating till and cashing up
- Ensuring pricing and signage are correct
- Assisting customers to vehicles with purchases when necessary
- Assisting with stocktaking and ordering
