Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Class 1 to join our team working weekends. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of goods, ensuring that all deliveries are completed on time and in accordance with company policies. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to navigate various road conditions.
Duties
- Operate a lorry to transport goods to designated locations safely and efficiently.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working order.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle service, and deliveries made.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while on the road.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules and any issues that may arise.
- Handle loading and unloading of cargo, ensuring proper securing of loads, particularly for flatbed deliveries.
- Provide excellent customer service during interactions with clients upon delivery.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Delivery Driver or in a similar role is preferred.
- Valid commercial driving licence (C+E or equivalent) is essential.
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and traffic laws.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet delivery deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused attitude are highly valued.
