Overview
Interlude SVN is a cocktail and shisha lounge on Streatham High Road. Weekends are DJ led and busy, weekdays bring private hire and bookings, and across the year we host bottomless brunches, listening parties and big match nights. The bar sits right at the centre of all of it.
This is a casual role, so no fixed hours and no set rota. We share shifts week to week and you take the ones that suit you. It works well if you've got another job, you're studying, or you just want good weekend work that fits around everything else.
What we're really after is someone who enjoys the job. Cocktails made properly, a bit of warmth across the bar, and the kind of person the rest of the team is glad to see walk in.
You don't need to know our full list on day one. We'll teach you our specs, including our signature serves, and you'll pick them up quickly. What matters more is that you care how a drink looks when it leaves your hands.
What you'll be doing
- Making cocktails to our house spec, keeping them consistent whether it's the first of the night or the two hundredth
- Getting batch prep done before service so the bar keeps pace when it gets heavy
- Looking after guests at the bar and on the terrace, and working with the floor team on table service
- Keeping the bar clean, stocked and organised through the shift, and closing it down properly
- Handling cash and card, ringing orders in correctly, keeping wastage down
- Checking ID under Challenge 25 and turning service down where you need to
- Restocking and rotating stock, and giving us a heads up before anything runs out
- Working private hire events, brunches and match days
What we're looking for
- Some bar experience behind you in a busy venue. Cocktail experience is a real plus
- Someone who stays calm and cheerful on a Friday night when the queue is three deep
- A few weekend evenings free. That's when we need the cover most
- Reliability. Casual suits both of us, and it works because we can count on each other
- Good with people. Warm, reads the room, keeps their patience if a table gets difficult
- Happy with late finishes
- Right to work in the UK
- Level 2 Food Safety is handy but not essential, we'll support you with training
Shifts and pay
- £12.71 to £15 per hour depending on experience, plus tips
- Casual, zero hours. Shifts shared week to week with no minimum or maximum
- Mainly Thursday to Sunday evenings, with extra around private hire and events
- Late finishes, latest close 1am
- Paid holiday accrues on every hour you work
- 426 Streatham High Road, London SW16 3PX. Streatham Common and Streatham stations are close by, and night buses run the High Road
Why work here
We're a small team, which means you're a name here rather than a number. You'll get proper training on cocktails and how the bar runs, not just thrown in and left to work it out. Staff food and drink on shift, and tips shared. The nights are genuinely good fun, the music is good, and the regulars are lovely.
If you want more from it, the door's open. People who stick with us get first pick of the shifts, and there's a route to regular hours or a supervisor role for anyone who wants to build something here.
