Job Summary:
Ensure the continuous production by completing planned and reactive maintenance on manufacturing equipment and site services and fabrication, minimising downtime and ensuring machinery operates safely and efficiently.
Key responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) of production lines and general building maintenance in line with the schedule. Complete maintenance documentation and keep accurate records. To ensure audit ready.
- Ensure breakdowns and production issues are rectified quickly and in accordance with H&S and Food Safety requirements such a BRCGS.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults, on production lines and all aspects of the building.
- Manage engineering projects e.g. commissioning, installations and relocations.
- Manage the fabrication of the warehouse and production plant.
- Organisation of site calibration and service contracts to ensure compliance with BRCGS, H&S and food safety requirements.
- Monitor and manage spares/stock levels for critical parts.
- Ensure COSSH, product safety sheets and chemical risk assessments are maintained in accordance with H&S, and food safety requirements.
- Support continuous improvement projects and NPD production trials to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Liaise with production, technical teams and management on engineering activity.
- Maintain compliance with Health & Safety and Food Safety requirements including BRCGS, by working in a safe manner.
- Other responsibilities and in line with role as required by the Head of Technical and Operations.
Essential experience/skills:
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer in FMCG/food manufacturing (or similar).
- Qualification with a related field, ideally Food and drink maintenance engineer diploma level 3, or time served / recognised qualification in a relevant engineering subject.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and maintenance capability.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workload.
- Understanding of PPM systems and proactive maintenance
- Strong problem-solving approach
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Knowledge of MS Office, Excell
- Experience of BRCGS, Food Safety and H&S.
- Ability to work at heights and within confined spaces
- Full UK driving licence and access to own transport
