About Foresight
Foresight (North East Lincolnshire) Limited supports disabled adults, their families, and carers across North and North East Lincolnshire. Our aim is to promote independence, inclusion and wellbeing through a range of day opportunities and activities.
We are looking for dependable and enthusiastic volunteers who would like to make a positive difference in the lives of disabled adults while gaining valuable experience within a supportive environment.
About the Role
This varied volunteer position combines two rewarding responsibilities. You'll accompany our driver on the daily transport route, helping passengers travel safely between Grimsby and Scunthorpe, before assisting our staff in delivering engaging activities and support throughout the day.
We ask volunteers to commit to one regular day each week. Typical hours are from 8:00am until approximately 4:30pm.
Most volunteers start and finish their day at our Grimsby base, although we may be able to arrange collection from other locations within the Grimsby or Cleethorpes area.
Your Responsibilities
During the morning and afternoon transport journey, you will:
- Welcome beneficiaries and help them board and leave the vehicle safely.
- Offer practical assistance where required, including helping individuals use the vehicle steps.
- Check that seatbelts are worn correctly..
- Provide encouragement, reassurance, and conversation during the journey.
- Help create a calm, friendly, and supportive travel experience.
Once at our Scunthorpe service, you'll work alongside staff by:
- Supporting adults to take part in activities and social opportunities.
- Encouraging confidence, independence, and personal choice.
- Building positive relationships with the people we support.
- Helping maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment.
- Reporting any concerns to members of staff.
- Working cooperatively with colleagues and fellow volunteers.
Who Would Suit This Role?
We're looking for volunteers who are:
- Kind, dependable, and approachable.
- Willing to learn and follow agreed procedures.
Experience in care, community support, disability services, transport assistance, or working with disabled people is welcomed but not essential. Full guidance and ongoing support will be provided.
Additional Information
As this role involves supporting vulnerable adults, successful applicants will be required to complete a DBS check before starting.
