Just Friends is a charity supporting people who live alone through friendship, social connection, wellbeing activities and community engagement.
We create welcoming spaces where people feel included, valued and connected. As we continue to grow across Sussex, we are looking for a warm, organised and community minded individual to support our Bexhill and Hastings branches.
About the Role
This is a varied and rewarding role combining community engagement, event coordination, administration and member support.
You will help create welcoming branch meetings, support members to get involved, coordinate activities and wellbeing talks, and help ensure the smooth running of branch operations.
Many of our members are older adults and people who may be experiencing loneliness or social isolation, so empathy, patience and strong people skills are important.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Hosting branch meetings and creating a welcoming atmosphere
- Supporting member engagement and inclusion
- Helping new members feel comfortable attending activities
- Coordinating wellbeing talks, guest speakers and social activities
- Supporting excursions, outings and special events
- Liaising with venues, speakers and activity providers
- Managing branch administration and communications
- Maintaining attendance and financial records
- Supporting volunteers within the branch
- Working closely with the Senior Operations Manager and wider charity team
Branch Meeting Locations
Hastings
First and third Thursday of each month
10:30am to 12:30pm
His Place, Robertson Street, Hastings
Bexhill
First and third Friday of each month
10:30am to 12:30pm
Town Square Social, Bexhill
About You
We would love to hear from people who are:
- Friendly, reliable and organised
- Confident communicators with a warm and approachable manner
- Comfortable working with a wide range of people
- Empathic and community focused
- Comfortable using email and basic computer systems
- Able to maintain accurate records
- Comfortable handling cash and card payments
Experience in community groups, charities, wellbeing services, hospitality or other people focused roles would be helpful but is not essential.
