Job Overview
The Engineering Manager leads the Engineering Department, which acts as the technical authority of the business. The role is responsible for developing, designing and delivering technically sound and commercially viable solutions to meet customer requirements. This includes overseeing engineering outputs, managing engineering resources, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
What you will do:
Lead, manage and develop the Engineering Department, including recruitment, performance management and skills development.
Manage multiple engineering resources and projects to ensure delivery against business objectives.
Take overall responsibility for engineering output, including design quality, lead times and technical compliance.
Provide technical direction and approval for designs, design changes and engineering solutions.
Ensure compliance with relevant engineering codes, standards and contractual requirements.
Work closely with production, commercial and management teams to meet customer requirements.
Promote continuous improvement, quality assurance and a strong health and safety culture.
What you will need
Essential:
Degree or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Significant experience in mechanical engineering design within industrial rotating machinery.
Strong leadership and people management experience.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
Experience in power generation, oil & gas, nuclear or similar regulated industries.
Knowledge of ASME, API or equivalent standards.
ERP system experience.
