Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented QA/QC Lead / Welding Inspector to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will lead our quality assurance and quality control processes, ensuring all welding and fabrication work complies with BS EN 1090, ISO 3834, and ISO 9001 standards, as well as client specifications. Your expertise in material traceability, welding inspection, and QA documentation will drive continuous improvement, uphold safety protocols, and guarantee the integrity of our projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to manage inspection efforts, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure high-quality project delivery across diverse industrial sectors.
Duties
- Lead and coordinate all welding inspection and QA/QC activities, ensuring compliance with project requirements, BS EN 1090, ISO 3834, ISO 5817, and other relevant codes and standards.
- Perform detailed visual inspections of welds, verifying quality and adherence to specifications.
- Conduct or arrange non-destructive testing (NDT) as required
- Review welding procedures, welder qualifications, and material certifications to ensure readiness for production.
- Manage full material traceability, including heat numbers, batch tracking, and certification records.
- Document inspection results meticulously, prepare detailed reports, and maintain comprehensive QA/QC records, ITPs, weld maps, and NCRs for full traceability.
- Collaborate with engineers, fabrication teams, and contractors to resolve quality issues promptly and effectively.
- Analyse inspection data to identify trends or recurring issues and recommend corrective actions for continuous improvement.
Skills
- Strong analysis skills to interpret inspection data, NDT results, and technical documentation accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail combined with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- In-depth knowledge of welding codes, standards, and industry best practices.
- Experience managing material certificates and traceability systems
- Effective communication skills for clear reporting and collaboration across teams.
- Familiarity with welding equipment, inspection tools, and testing methodologies.
- Certification as a Welding Inspector (such as CSWIP 3.1).
Pay: £45,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Woolpit IP30: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
