Job Description:
Residential Care Home Deputy Manager
We have an exciting position available for a Deputy Manager to join our team at Townfield & Coach House in Great Harwood.
We provide residential care and support to older people and we specialise in supporting people living with dementia and other memory problems.
As the Deputy Manager, you will provide key support to the Registered Manager in all aspects of running the residential home, delivering, and promoting high quality care using a person-centred approach.
The main duties of the role
· Ensuring the needs of service users are continuously met, providing opportunities for service users to enhance their quality of life
· Responsibility for the day-to-day running of the service in the absence of the Registered Manager
· Supporting the Registered Manager with the management of staff including team meetings and supervisions, and assisting with inducting new members of staff
· Supporting both new and existing staff with training and e-learning
· Developing safe, person-centred support within the residential home, with focus on promoting a positive culture
·Work flexibly both in the office with the management team and within the care team to provide support with hands on care
· Monitoring and managing employee/team performance – ensuring that quality and legislative standards are always upheld
· Producing staff rotas and approving annual leave requests, ensuring that the service is always adequately staffed
· Adopting a proactive approach to achieving a positive and engaging relationships with service users, their families, and local authorities.
· Ensuring all regulatory and contractual standards are met
· Working with key local service providers, including council departments and CCG’s etc
· Responsibility for ensuring good communication channels are established and maintained to facilitate new referrals and joint working
Hours of work
Normal working hours will be 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, (two days will be 8am to 8pm and two days will be 9am- 5pm.) On call would be shared with the Registered Manager. The candidate may have to work outside of these hours when the service requires.
The skills and experience we are looking for
- 3 years’ experience within a health and social care setting
- Diploma/NVQ level 5 is preferred but is not a necessity, as we have a training and development programme for those who wish to achieve a NVQ L5
- Experience leading and managing a team
- The ability to motivate and get the best out of a team
- Someone who can work to and demonstrate high standards and make sure all regulations are being met
