Boolean Group is working with a client to hire a QA Automation Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Caerphilly and strengthen automation coverage across both frontend and backend systems.
This is a hands-on automation role for someone comfortable working across Python, Playwright and API testing, with experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
You’ll be working across the application stack, helping improve regression coverage, framework quality and the reliability of automated testing throughout the delivery lifecycle.
What you’ll be doing
- Building and maintaining automated tests using Python and Playwright
- Creating reliable UI and API automation
- Expanding automated regression coverage across key business workflows
- Integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Investigating test failures and working closely with developers to identify defects
- Contributing to improvements in automation frameworks, test design and overall QA engineering practices
What we’re looking for
- Around 4-5 years’ experience in QA, testing or test automation
- At least 2 years of hands-on Python experience within automation
- Commercial experience with Playwright
- Playwright with Python is preferred, although strong Playwright experience in another language is also relevant
- Strong experience with API testing and API automation
- Experience testing both frontend and backend systems
- Practical experience running automated tests through CI/CD pipelines
- A good understanding of test automation design, maintainability and reliable regression testing

Rather than judging candidates purely on CV keywords, shortlisted engineers have a short 15-minute technical conversation with an experienced automation engineer before being introduced to the client.
There is no coding challenge.
The conversation focuses on your real-world experience, including automation frameworks, Python, UI and API testing, CI/CD and how you approach practical testing problems.
You will also be able to review the technical profile we prepare before it is shared with the client.
Pay: £40,000.00-£75,000.00 per year
