We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Manager to support the General Manager in the day-to-day running of our busy bar and hospitality venue. The successful candidate will lead and motivate the team, deliver exceptional customer service, assist with staff training, rotas and stock control, and help drive sales while maintaining high operational standards in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Support the General Manager with the day-to-day operation of the venue.
- Lead, motivate and supervise the bar and floor team during shifts.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and resolve customer queries or complaints professionally.
- Manage staff rotas, delegate tasks and ensure smooth service throughout each shift.
- Assist with recruitment, training and development of team members.
- Monitor stock levels, complete stock takes and minimise wastage.
- Ensure cash handling and end-of-day procedures are completed accurately.
- Drive sales through upselling, promotions and events.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and customer experience.
- Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health & safety regulations and company policies.
- Step into the Manager on Duty role when required.
Key Skills
- Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within hospitality.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with staff training, scheduling and performance management.
- Knowledge of stock control, cash handling and cost management.
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of licensing laws, health & safety and food hygiene regulations.
- Flexible approach to working evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
