Due to continuing expansion, we are currently recruiting for a Transport Coordinator to join our team.
Role Overview
The Transport Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day running of a small transport operation, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of predominantly caravan chassis within the local area, with some UK-wide deliveries.
Working under the direction of the Transport & Logistics Manager, the role requires strong operational control, compliance management, and hands-on coordination to ensure “right first time” delivery performance while maintaining full legal and regulatory compliance.
This is a working coordinator role — you will be expected to lead from the front and take ownership of the transport function.
Key Responsibilities
1. Transport Planning & Operations
- Create, maintain, and amend daily and weekly transport plans
- Schedule local and UK-wide deliveries efficiently
- Allocate vehicles and drivers to meet operational requirements
- Monitor vehicle utilisation and route performance
- Respond proactively to delivery issues or changes
2. Compliance & Legal Responsibility
- Ensure full compliance with Operator’s Licence requirements
- Monitor and manage:
- Driver hours regulations
- Tachograph downloads and analysis
- Working Time Directive compliance
- ESDAL (Electronic Service Delivery Authorisation & Licensing) requirements
- Maintain accurate compliance records
- Ensure vehicles are maintained in line with service schedules and defect reporting procedures
- Conduct driver licence checks and keep compliance files up to date
- Support audits and inspections
3. Driver & Team Management
- Manage and support the team
- Conduct driver briefings and debriefings
- Promote a safety-first culture
- Monitor performance and address issues promptly
- Ensure drivers understand and meet delivery quality standards
- Support training and development where required
4. Delivery Quality – “Right First Time”
- Liaise with internal teams to ensure loads are accurate and ready for dispatch
- Confirm delivery details and customer requirements
- Minimise delivery errors, returns, and damage
- Investigate delivery issues and implement corrective actions
5. Administration & Reporting
- Maintain transport records and documentation
- Produce operational and compliance reports as required
- Manage delivery paperwork
- Assist with cost control and fuel monitoring
- Support continuous improvement initiatives
Essential Requirements
- CPC Qualified (Transport Manager CPC – National minimum)
- Proven experience within a transport or logistics environment
- Strong understanding of:
- Driver hours regulations
- Tachograph systems
- Operator Licence compliance
- UK transport legislation
- ESDAL
- Experience managing drivers
- Excellent organisational and planning skills
- Strong administrative capability
- Confident communicator with problem-solving ability
- IT competent (transport systems, spreadsheets, email)
