About the Role
The Ashmolean Museum is the University of Oxford’s Museum of art and archaeology, welcoming visitors from around the world. The Commercial Department generates vital income for the Museum through its shops and other commercial activities, and this is an exciting opportunity to join its Retail & Ticketing Team.
You will provide excellent customer service while helping to maximise sales across the Museum’s shops. Working with the EPoS Galaxy Ticketing System, you will sell products, memberships and tickets to exhibitions and events, as well as promote souvenir guides, donations and Gift Aid contributions. You will engage confidently with customers, follow cash handling and shop security procedures, replenish stock, maintain attractive displays and support the smooth day-to-day running of the shops.
This is a permanent variable hours (paid as claimed) post. Hours will be worked flexibly over a seven-day rota, including weekends, some Bank Holidays and occasional evenings. This is an onsite role at the Ashmolean Museum.
About You
You will have previous experience of working in a fast-paced customer or visitor-facing environment, together with knowledge of EPOS systems and cash handling. You will be comfortable working as part of a team while also having the aptitude to work independently when required, and you will be enthusiastic about achieving sales targets while supporting colleagues to do the same.
