Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Block Paver to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for laying and finishing paving surfaces, contributing to high-quality outdoor projects such as driveways, walkways, patios, and other paved areas. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in masonry and related trades to develop their skills within a professional environment.
Duties
- Prepare surfaces by excavating, levelling, and compacting ground to ensure a stable base for paving.
- Lay blocks, bricks, or stones accurately according to design specifications and patterns.
- Use hand tools such as trowels, hammers, and levels to position and secure paving materials.
- Operate power tools including cutters and compactors safely and efficiently.
- Mix mortar or concrete as needed for bedding and jointing paving units.
- Ensure the finished surface is even, smooth, and meets quality standards.
- Maintain a clean worksite by clearing debris and organising materials effectively.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects within specified timeframes.
Skills
- Proficiency in using hand tools specific to masonry and paving work.
- Experience with bricklaying, masonry techniques, and laying pavers accurately.
- Ability to operate power tools such as cutters, drills, and compactors safely.
- Knowledge of carpentry or roofing skills is advantageous for certain projects requiring additional construction expertise.
- Basic welding skills are a plus for specialised tasks involving metal components.
- Strong attention to detail with an organised approach to work tasks.
- Good physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy materials and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
