Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled and reliable HGV Technician to join our team in Knowsley. This role involves maintaining and repairing a fleet of HGV vehicles to ensure they remain safe, compliant, and fully operational. You will play a key role in supporting fleet reliability and minimising downtime in a busy working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on HGV vehicles and trailers
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults efficiently
- Ensure all work is completed in line with DVSA standards and manufacturer guidelines
- Conduct vehicle inspections, MOT preparations, and safety checks
- Complete all relevant paperwork and job records accurately
- Identify and report any additional repair requirements
- Work closely with the transport team to ensure minimal vehicle downtime
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment
- Adhere to all Health & Safety regulations at all times
Requirements
- Proven experience as an HGV Technician, Mechanic, or similar role
- Relevant qualifications in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent preferred)
- Strong knowledge of HGV systems, diagnostics, and repair techniques
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Full UK driving licence (HGV licence desirable but not essential)
Desirable
- Experience working on a mixed fleet (e.g. waste, logistics, or commercial vehicles)
- IRTEC accreditation
- Knowledge of compliance and inspection standards
