Event Power Technician
Job Summary
As an Event Power Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and dismantling of temporary electrical power systems used at live events. Working as part of the production and technical team, you will ensure safe, reliable power distribution for festivals, concerts, exhibitions, sporting events, corporate functions, and outdoor productions.
The role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments, often involving flexible hours, travel, and overnight stays.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, test, commission, and dismantle temporary power distribution systems.
- Set up and connect generators, distribution boards, transformers, and electrical cabling.
- Install and maintain temporary lighting and power supplies for production equipment, catering units, traders, site offices, and welfare facilities.
- Carry out electrical testing, fault finding, and repairs during event build, live operation, and breakdown.
- Monitor generator performance and fuel levels where required.
- Ensure all electrical installations comply with current UK electrical regulations and company safety procedures.
- Complete inspection and testing documentation accurately.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping on site.
- Load, unload, inspect, and maintain company equipment and vehicles.
- Work closely with project managers, site managers, production teams, and other contractors.
- Respond promptly to technical issues during live events to minimise disruption.
- Participate in event build, operation, and de-rig activities.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified electrician or equivalent electrical qualification.
- Experience installing and maintaining temporary power systems.
- Good understanding of temporary power distribution and electrical safety.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and site plans.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Willingness to travel and work evenings, weekends, nights, and extended hours.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications
- ECS or CSCS Card.
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing or equivalent.
- IPAF Licence.
- PASMA Certificate.
- Generator operation and synchronisation experience.
- Experience working on festivals, concerts, exhibitions, sporting events, or television productions.
- First Aid at Work qualification.
- Towing licence (if applicable).

Health & Safety
The Event Power Technician is responsible for working safely at all times, following company procedures, completing risk assessments where required, using appropriate PPE, and ensuring all electrical work complies with current legislation and industry best practice.
Pay: £20.00-£40.00 per hour
