Ovieya London is a growing Beauty Members’ Lounge in North London offering hair, nails and beauty services alongside memberships, events and private bookings.
We are expanding our hair department and are looking for a professionally trained Hairdresser / Colourist who is confident working across a broad range of hair types and textures.
This is a multi-texture hairdressing position. You must be professionally confident working across straight, wavy, curly and coily/Afro-textured hair.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for someone who is technically strong, reliable and enjoys focusing on delivering excellent client work within an established salon environment. A large social-media following is not required — professional ability, consistency and client care matter more.
Responsibilities
- Cutting and trimming
- Blow-dries and blowouts
- Silk presses and smooth finishes
- Root colour and grey coverage
- Full-head colour
- Highlights and balayage
- Toning
- Hair treatments
- Healthy-hair maintenance
- Styling and finishing
- Professional consultations
- Appropriate aftercare and rebooking recommendations
- Carry out appropriate strand tests, skin tests and colour consultations where required
- Maintain excellent hygiene, sanitation and workstation standards
- Work within appropriate service timings and manage appointments efficiently
Essential requirements
- NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing or recognised equivalent
- Professional colour experience
- Strong cutting, blow-drying and styling fundamentals
- Experience working with Afro/textured hair
- Confidence across multiple hair types
- Strong understanding of colour suitability, hair condition and chemical services
- Strong understanding of colour theory and safe chemical-service practice
- Professional treatment insurance
- Right to work in the UK
- Reliable and able to work within appropriate appointment timings
Desirable
- NVQ Level 3 Hairdressing
- Advanced colour work
- Curly/textured cutting
- Weave or extension experience
- Bridal or occasion styling
Contractor arrangement
This is a self-employed freelance contractor position.
Shifts are offered according to salon demand, bookings and your availability. There are no guaranteed minimum hours or shifts.
