Claim Handler Role Function:
To handle and oversee claims in accordance with claims protocols and delegated authority, ensuring timely resolution, accurate reporting, and excellent client support. To assist with the management of the claims department.
Key Responsibilities
Claims Management
· Manage the receipt and progression of new claims in line with handling guidelines and delegated authority.
· Provide timely updates to insurers, particularly where claims exceed delegated authority.
· Instruct and liaise with panel solicitors and/or surveyors as required.
· Assess claims documentation, evidence, and reports to ensure fair and accurate claim outcomes.
· Focus on recovery and subrogation, where appropriate, throughout the claims handling process.
· Authorise and process claims and legal expense payments within authority limits, ensuring payments are made in line with SLAs.
· Assist the Claims Manager in evaluating and monitoring panel law firms for performance and cost effectiveness.
· Ensure claims are handled consistently in accordance with industry best practice and company procedure.
Claims reporting
· Ensure accurate reporting of data within case management system
· In collaboration with the Claims Manager ensure that all monthly claims bordereaux are accurately updated and reported on time to insurers, underwriters and the management team.
· Assist in preparing claims statistics reports for underwriters/Corporate Development Director.
· Assist the Claims Manager in the development of claims reporting with the aim of improving data accuracy and analysis.
Client training and internal technical support and IT development
· Assist in the design of training documents for clients.
· Assist in the creation of claims content for marketing such as case studies to demonstrate how products function.
· Assist with client relationship development via training and claims handling.
· Assist in providing technical advice to clients and underwriters on claims procedures.
Assist in systems development and operational improvement designed to improve efficiency and accuracy of claims data.
Required Knowledge:
· Understanding of residential conveyancing, secured lending and/or real estate legal work (preferred)
· Comfortable working with litigated matters
· An understanding of insurance contracts
· Some understanding of compliance requirements within the industry

Ability to confidently work with numbers in order to monitor claims reserves, invoices, settlement amounts and other financial aspects of a claims handling role
Location : Office Based
Hours : 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday
Salary: Up to £40,000, depending on experience and qualifications
