Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Tearoom Chef / Kitchen Manager to oversee daily culinary operations within our charming tearoom. Working alongside our other Kitchen Manager, you'll run the kitchen on their day off, with one day for cross-over and knowledge sharing.
This role involves managing food production, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring exceptional service and food safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary experience, and a passion for hospitality. You will be responsible for maintaining high-quality food presentation, managing kitchen workflows, and creating a welcoming environment for guests. Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes with an emphasis on quality and presentation, ensuring adherence to food safety standards
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food production, inventory management, and ordering supplies
- Supervise and motivate kitchen staff, providing guidance and training to ensure efficient workflow and high standards of service
- Manage the organisation of the tearoom’s menu offerings, incorporating seasonal ingredients and customer preferences
- Ensure all food preparation complies with health and safety regulations and maintains cleanliness standards
- Serve customers directly when required, offering excellent hospitality and personalised service
- Maintain a welcoming atmosphere in the tearoom by supervising front-of-house activities when necessary
- Monitor stock levels, minimise waste, and optimise utilisation of resources
- Collaborate with management to develop new menu items and promotional events
Skills
- Extensive experience in food production, cooking, and food preparation within a restaurant or hospitality environment
- Proven management and supervising experience (min 1 year) in a culinary setting
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and develop team members
- Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a busy environment
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene standards
- Experience in hospitality service, ideally in a similar environment, with an eye for presentation.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Passion for culinary arts with a creative approach to menu development
