We are currently recruiting 2 Bench Cabinet Makers with experience working within the woodworking industry. We are seeking skilled craftspeople to join our bespoke kitchen manufacturing team. You will hand-craft, assemble, and hand-finish our high-end, custom cabinetry.
Key Responsibilities
Craftsmanship and Assembly
- Execute master jointing: Build robust, flawless joints using traditional and modern techniques, including dovetails, dowels, and domino systems.
- Assemble bespoke cabinetry: Dry-fit, glue, clamp, and pin custom carcass components, face frames, and intricate detailed mouldings.
- Install high-end hardware: Fit premium concealed hinges, soft-close drawer runners, mechanical lift systems, and intricate pull-out storage solutions.
- Construct custom elements: Hand-craft complex, non-standard elements such as curved islands, bespoke larder units, and intricate pilasters.
Quality Control and Finishing
- Verify perfect squareness: Check completed carcasses and doors using precision squares and tape measures to guarantee true 90-degree alignments.
- Execute seamless flush-fitting: Hand-plane, scrape, and sand joints to ensure completely seamless transitions between timber components.
- Detect surface defects: Inspect cabinet faces under specialized bench lighting for glue squeeze-out, tear-outs, or micro-scratches.
Safety and Workshop Integration
- Maintain bench cleanliness: Keep individual assembly bays, workbenches, and hand tools clean and free of debris to prevent marking delicate materials.
- Batch and sequence kits: Organize and bundle assembled cabinets by kitchen zone to streamline the subsequent painting and dispatch phases.
- Adhere to safety protocols: Safely operate bench-top machinery and hand tools in strict accordance with PPE requirements and workshop safety guidelines.
Skills and Qualifications
- Industry Knowledge: Must possess extensive knowledge and proven experience within the professional woodworking industry. A strong, practical background in bespoke kitchen manufacturing, traditional joinery, or high-end architectural cabinetry is highly desirable but not necessary.
- Technical Skills: Proven ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, 3D CAD models, and detailed architectural blueprints. Must be highly proficient in working from precise cutting lists and marking out complex layouts. Expert usage of traditional bench tools, hand planes, chisels, and power tools is essential.
- Detail-Oriented: A genuine passion for achieving seamless, flawless, and premium finishes on luxury materials. The candidate must possess a sharp eye for alignment, ensuring tight joint lines, flush surfaces, and perfect door and drawer margins on high-gloss, ultra-matte, or paint-to-order surfaces.
- Attributes: Demonstrates a strong, self-motivated work ethic and absolute reliability with attendance and deadlines. Must be a proactive problem solver with a pride in craftsmanship, able to work harmoniously within a fast-paced, collaborative team environment under tight production schedules.
