Join Our Community ENT Service
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced General Practitioner with a Special Interest (GPwSI) / General Practitioner with Extended Role (GPwER) in ENT to join our growing community-based specialist service.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centred ENT care closer to home, reducing unnecessary secondary care referrals while delivering timely access to specialist assessment and treatment.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, diagnose, manage and treat a range of Tier 2 ENT conditions and undertake a variety of office-based procedures in a well-equipped community setting.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide assessment and management of patients presenting with a range of ENT conditions, including:
Conditions Managed
- Chronic or persistent rhinitis
- Deviated nasal septum (non-severe cases or patients with manageable symptoms)
- Globus pharyngeus (mild presentations)
- Dysphonia and voice disorders
- Non-cancerous, superficial ear and nose lesions
Procedures Performed
- Microsuction for earwax and debris removal
- Aural toilet and basic ear cleaning procedures
- Silver nitrate nasal cautery for minor or less frequent epistaxis
- Removal of uncomplicated foreign bodies from the ear and nose
Person Specification Essential
- Registered Medical Practitioner with the GMC and licence to practise
- Inclusion on the GP Register
- Evidence of additional training, accreditation or significant experience in ENT
- GPwSI/GPwER accreditation or demonstrable competency in ENT services
- Experience in undertaking community-based ENT assessments and procedures
- Excellent communication and patient-centred consultation skills
- Commitment to clinical governance, audit and quality improvement
Desirable
- Previous experience working within a Tier 2 ENT service
- Experience supervising or teaching healthcare professionals
- Participation in ENT-related clinical audit or service development
Pay: £800.00-£1,000.00 per day
