Maintenance & Reliability Manager
Job Purpose:
Work with Maintenance Engineer team and key stakeholders to deliver effective planned and reactive maintenance service to site. Conduct reliability reviews for production equipment and assets. Implement good manufacturing practices (GMP) for engineering standards, specifically workshop 5S and stores/parts locations. Responsible for small Capex/Opex (sub £350k) project initiatives which drive benefits in reliability and add engineering value.
Key Areas of Responsibility, Duties and Deliverables Expected:
Responsibilities:

Day to day supervision and direction of Shift Maintenance Engineers to ensure delivery of maintenance service to Production and site (e.g. shift coverage, managing holidays and absence) across both continental and rotational shift patterns to ensure production output targets are achieved. Focusing on MTBF/MTTR rationale to maintain equipment uptime.

Attend Gemba reviews for outputs and actions taken from shifts to prioritise work schedules for the maintenance team. Reviewing medium to long term actions.

Engage with Production Team Leaders regarding ongoing and new maintenance issues to ensure they are resolved, reviewed for RCA and actions logged for prevention. Review PMs for improved maintenance routines and frequency.

Conduct daily department meetings to provide updates across the shifts and prioritise work orders, focusing on safety first ways of working.

Report and monitor KPIs for PM performance across shifts and departments, and regularly review to drive adherence and completion rates above 97%.

Perform PM audits to ensure PM working standards are being met and/or improved.

Support with breakdowns where required, with emphasis on mentoring and coaching to prevent issues and maintain a healthy work/life balance.

Conduct toolbox audits for 5S workshop standards, ensuring tool safety compliance and service intervals are maintained for workshop repair equipment (drills, grinders, lathes).

Adhere to contractor management standards, RAMS review, PTW adherence, PLI and site inductions.

Identify and manage obsolete parts, upgrades and stores stock management that will drive value, engineering longevity and benefit through 3rd party suppliers.

Ensure effective handovers between shifts – communication is clear, concise and timely.

Manage effectiveness of the department with focus on breakdown support and maintenance service ratio.
