Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanic/MOT Tester Workshop Manager to oversee our vehicle maintenance and testing operations in our brand-new 5-bay workshop and MOT testing centre. We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has excellent diagnostic skills, and enjoys being part of a professional team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting MOT tests, performing mechanical repairs, and managing workshop activities efficiently. This role requires a strong technical background, leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality. Responsibilities
- Conduct MOT tests in accordance with legal and safety standards, ensuring vehicles meet required regulations.
- Perform routine mechanical repairs and servicing on a wide range of vehicles, including diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Supervise workshop operations, organise daily schedules, and allocate tasks to team members effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of all work carried out, including parts used and time spent on each job.
- Ensure all workshop equipment and tools are properly maintained, calibrated, and stored securely.
- Manage stock levels of parts and supplies, placing orders as necessary to ensure smooth workflow.
- Enforce health and safety policies within the workshop to promote a safe working environment for all staff.
- Provide training and guidance to junior technicians or apprentices as required.
- Liaise with customers regarding vehicle repairs, MOT outcomes, and service recommendations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a mechanic with comprehensive knowledge of vehicle systems and repairs.
- Valid MOT tester certification recognised by the DVSA (Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency).
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling vehicle parts or equipment.
- Excellent leadership qualities with experience managing a team within an automotive workshop setting.
- Good communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues and customers.

Pay: £35,000.00-£43,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
