Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students within a Primary Alternative Provision setting. Responsibilities
- Assist in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to individual student needs, including those with autism and other disabilities.
- Support students with daily activities, ensuring their safety and well-being during school hours.
- Implement behaviour management strategies to promote positive conduct and social interaction among students.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support for students requiring additional help with communication skills, literacy, numeracy, or social skills.
- Help create a nurturing environment that encourages independence and confidence in learners of all abilities, including toddlers in early intervention stages.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education professionals, and external therapists to develop and follow individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Monitor student progress, document observations, and communicate updates effectively with staff and families to ensure consistent support.
Experience
- Previous experience working with children in educational or care settings, especially within special education or alternative provision environments.
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other disabilities, demonstrating understanding of their unique needs.
- Knowledge of teaching strategies that support diverse learning styles and behavioral challenges.
- Hands-on experience with young children in educational or care contexts is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with students, colleagues, and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to remain energetic, patient, and adaptable in dynamic classroom environments while maintaining a positive attitude toward student development.
