Job Title: Breakdown Recovery Technician
Objective of the Job: Attend, repair and recovery of broken down / immobile vehicles
Candidates for the post of Breakdown Recovery Technician must possess the following qualities:

Specific Responsibilities
Initial allocation of functions of which the post holder will have direct responsibility:
- Daily vehicle checks via Apex application
- Fuel entries via Apex application
- Understand the instructions relating to the breakdown recovery process and respond as appropriate
- Reach the stranded vehicle in a safe and timely a manner as possible
- Take images of the vehicle prior to loading, recording damage via Apex application in conjunction with the designated / marked job sheet
- Obtain the necessary signature from the location point
- Take images of the vehicle post unloading via the Apex application
- Obtain signature from delivery point
- Reassure and assist the stricken motorist
- Load the immobile vehicle onto the recovery vehicle in a safe and secure manner
- Safely return the driver and or passengers to an appropriate drop-off point
- Manage all the necessary recovery and breakdown insurance paperwork in accordance with your Breakdown Recovery Technician role
- Deliver the immobile vehicle to the necessary delivery point
- Remain mobile and in constant communication with the office
- Be able to reassure a motorist who may be in a state of stress or panic
- Have a thorough understanding of the breakdown truck and its lift mechanism
- Have a strong appreciation for road health and safety threats whilst recovery is in process and in accordance to company policy
- Be able (and licensed) to drive the recovery vehicle safely
- Be able and willing to work in difficult roadside conditions, and in adverse weather
- To perform all work assigned in a timely manner, economically and to Company and Manufacturer’s standards.
- To advise Line Manager if additional work is required on a vehicle and seek their assistance and authority in the rectification of faults
- To maintain a high level of competence for the work to be undertaken by undergoing on-site training, attending courses at suppliers and manufacturer’s and reading technical bulletins as required.
- To discuss with customers, problems with the vehicle as requested.
- To ensure the Company image of professionalism and quality of service is maintained when dealing with customers.
- To operate equipment and carry out all duties in a safe manner.
- To maintain equipment, protective clothing and work areas in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
- To assist management with the introduction of new methods of work designed to improve efficiency.
- To carry out any other duties as required.
