Overview
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Café Kitchen Porter to support the smooth running of our kitchen. This role is essential in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and organisation, while assisting the kitchen team during preparation, service and closing duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, trays and kitchen equipment using the dishwasher, or when required by hand.
- On busy days help to clear tables and support the smooth running of the café.
- Keep kitchen areas clean, tidy and safe, including work surfaces, sinks, floors, storage areas and waste areas.
- Empty bins, manage recycling and dispose of kitchen waste correctly.
- Support the kitchen team with basic food preparation, such as washing, peeling and chopping ingredients when required.
- Receive deliveries, check items where needed and store stock correctly, following stock rotation procedures.
- Clean and maintain equipment, ensuring any faults or safety concerns are reported promptly.
- Consistently follow food hygiene, health and safety, and allergen procedures
- Help with closing-down duties to ensure the kitchen is ready for the next service.
- Work as part of the café team and assist with other reasonable duties when needed.
Skills and Experience
- Previous kitchen porter or hospitality experience is helpful but not essential.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness.
- Ability to work quickly and safely in a busy café kitchen.
- Reliable, punctual and able to follow instructions.
- Comfortable with physical tasks, including standing for long periods and lifting or moving kitchen items safely.
- Basic food hygiene knowledge is desirable; training can be provided.
