- Monday – Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
- Friday: 8:00am – 2:00pm
About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and reliable Nursery Chef to join our friendly nursery team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing fresh, nutritious meals and snacks for our children each day, supporting healthy eating habits in a safe and nurturing environment.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys cooking and wants a role with family-friendly daytime hours and no evening or weekend work.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare healthy, balanced meals and snacks for children aged 6 months to 5 years.
- Ensure all meals meet nutritional guidelines for early years settings.
- Manage food preparation, cooking, and presentation to a high standard.
- Maintain excellent hygiene and food safety standards in line with regulations.
- Monitor food stock, manage orders, and minimise waste.
- Cater for dietary requirements, allergies, and cultural preferences.
- Keep the kitchen clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards.
- Work closely with nursery staff to ensure mealtimes are enjoyable and safe.
Requirements
- Experience working as a cook or chef, ideally in a nursery, school, or similar setting.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.
- Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above) preferred.
- Understanding of allergies and dietary requirements.
- Ability to work independently and manage a small kitchen.
- A passion for healthy cooking for children.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
