Horan Power Engineering provide specialist services to the renewable energy sector.
We are experts in utility scale solar PV, wind and energy storage. We have been proving advice and stepping in to resolve difficult problems in the renewables industry for over 18 years. We have an established maintenance team who operate and maintain solar farms and wind farms across the UK and Ireland, so our consultancy is backed up by hands on experience.
Job Role
We are looking for a graduate to join our consultancy team. We’re not a big company, so you’ll be exposed to a variety of different work-streams and given the chance to gain a range of experience. While most of your role will be office based there will be plenty of opportunities to get your boots dirty on site. When you start, you’ll be given a tailored development plan, based on a combination of your interests and the things we think you need to know. This will include a combination of internal and external training courses on topics such as operating high voltage equipment, using big and exciting test equipment, and computer-based design of power systems.
Consultancy is a fast-moving business – there are always new and interesting things coming in the door. At first, the role will be mainly looking at intelligent asset management. This covers things like transformer oil condition monitoring, transformer testing, data analysis and site condition assessments on solar farms and wind farms.
We offer a competitive salary and bonus, and the position is based at our head office in Chester. The nature of our work means site visits to remote locations are an essential part of the job, so a full UK driving licence is necessary.
Minimum requirements:
- 2:1 honours degree in a technical or engineering discipline
- Strong numeracy, written English and report writing skills
- Proficient in the use of MS Office products
- Strong data management and analysis skills
Duties will include but will not be limited to:
- Managing ‘big data’ projects relating to wind farms and solar farms, and making that data look beautiful
- Providing expert advice to our wind and solar clients
- Managing projects to remediate solar farms
- Producing reports that our non-technical clients can understand
Essential Skills:
- Highly developed computers skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
- Able to manage your own workload and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines
- A professional and pro-active approach
Desirable Skills:
- Project management / control software
- Data science
- Harnessing the power of AI

Pay: £28,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
