Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and proactive Warehouse Operative to join our team on an initial three-month contract, working the AM shift. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse, handling materials efficiently, and supporting shipping and receiving activities. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with warehouse experience to develop their skills within a dynamic environment. The role involves physical tasks such as heavy lifting and requires a keen eye for quality control, alongside familiarity with warehouse management systems and mechanical knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Handling materials safely and efficiently, including loading and unloading goods using appropriate equipment such as forklifts.
- Managing stock levels through accurate picking, packing, and stocking of products to meet daily operational demands.
- Operating warehouse management systems to track inventory movements and update records accurately.
- Assisting with shipping and receiving processes to ensure timely dispatch and receipt of goods.
- Conducting quality control checks to maintain high standards of product integrity.
- Performing mechanical tasks related to warehouse equipment maintenance or troubleshooting as needed.
- Ensuring the workspace remains clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations at all times.
- Supporting team members during busy periods by providing assistance with load and unload tasks.
Skills
- Proven experience in warehouse operations, including materials handling, picking & packing, and stocking.
- Familiarity with forklift operation (certification preferred).
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems for inventory control.
- Experience in shipping & receiving procedures.
- Mechanical aptitude or knowledge of warehouse equipment maintenance is advantageous.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently throughout the shift.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail for quality control tasks.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
