Due to continuous growth, we are offering an exciting opportunity for someone to join our accounts team as an Accounts Assistant. This is a great opportunity for someone with a desire to work in a solicitor’s account team who is looking for an entry position.
Key activities and responsibilities:
You will be given accounts work gradually and fully trained on each area of work before moving on to the next level once you are confident and able. The role will include various accounting and administrative duties with the role including some of the following responsibilities:
Finance processes:
- office accounts management: Processing receipts and invoices, balancing accounts, disbursement posting and reconciliation.
- Client money management: balancing accounts, disbursement posting and reconciliation and compliance with Open Law’s file closure procedures.
- Client billing: reviewing and posting bills for legal fees; preparing and posting bills for administration and business charges.
- Administrative tasks: Inputting data onto internal systems with a high level of accuracy and supporting the accounts team with day-to-day finance duties.
Compliance:
- Supporting the Accounts Manager: working with the Accounts Manager, accounts team and Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration in accordance with the SRA Account Rules.
- Compliance with procedures: adherence to Open Law’s policies and procedures
Teamwork
- Work as a team player with the accounts team and all other staff at Open Law
Competence and development
- Full training provided on internal systems and procedures.
- Ongoing support to develop your knowledge of legal finance and compliance.
- Opportunities to attend relevant courses.

About You
- Experience in finance or accounts (legal sector experience is a plus).
- GCSE Qualifications: 4 or C equivalent in Maths and English is required.
- Good numeracy skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and processes.
- Basic familiarity with Excel
