Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our team here at Wroxall Abbey Hotel. As a vital part of our kitchen operations, the Sous Chef will assist the Head Chef in managing daily food preparation, supervising kitchen staff, and maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. Duties
- Assist the Head Chef in planning and executing menus that meet quality standards and customer expectations.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Oversee food production, ensuring dishes are prepared to specifications and presented attractively.
- Manage food preparation processes, including cooking, plating, and garnishing to ensure consistency and excellence.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen environment in compliance with food safety standards.
- Monitor inventory levels, assist with stock ordering, and minimise waste through efficient utilisation of ingredients.
- Support staff training programmes to develop culinary skills and maintain high standards of service.
- Ensure all dishes meet the restaurant’s quality standards before serving to customers.
- Collaborate with front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service delivery during busy periods.
Skills
- Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen environment.
- Strong background in food production, cooking, and food preparation techniques.
- Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse team.
- Extensive kitchen experience with a solid understanding of culinary practices and hospitality operations.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management.
- Previous restaurant experience demonstrating proficiency in food presentation and serving standards.
- Leadership qualities with the ability to organise tasks efficiently under pressure.
- Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and front-of-house staff.
