Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Workshop Operative specialising in Pipe Cutting to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The Workshop Operative will be primarily responsible for the accurate and efficient cutting, preparation, and handling of pipe and associated materials to meet daily production requirements and customer demand.
The role will also provide an opportunity to develop skills in plastic pipe fabrication, including welding and jointing processes, while supporting the picking, packing, loading, and despatch of customer orders.
Telehandler experience is desirable, although training may be provided for the right candidate. The role is intended to provide a hybrid development opportunity, with the successful candidate initially focusing on pipe cutting and workshop operations while progressively developing their skills and experience in plastic pipe fabrication and welding processes.
Responsibilities
- Carry out pipe cutting and preparation using workshop saws and other designated cutting equipment, ensuring dimensions and quantities meet production requirements.
- Assist with the fabrication of plastic pipework, developing skills in processes such as butt fusion, with training provided where required.
- Carry out general workshop duties, including material preparation, handling, housekeeping, and maintaining an organised working environment.
- Support the picking, packing, loading, and despatch of customer orders, ensuring products are correctly identified, prepared, and securely loaded.
- Assist with the movement, storage, loading, and unloading of materials and finished products using appropriate workshop handling equipment.
- Operate a telehandler and/or forklift where trained and authorised. Telehandler experience is desirable.
- Carry out routine checks and basic maintenance of workshop machinery and equipment where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate cutting, production, and machine records in line with company procedures.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health & safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workshop and despatch area. Following Operation Clean Sweep expectations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in fabrication and welding within a workshop environment is desirable.
- Mechanical aptitude with an understanding of basic math for measurements and calculations
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure precision in cutting and assembly tasks
- A proactive attitude with strong teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues
This role is Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 5pm with overtime available.

Pay: £13.50-£14.50 per hour
