Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Coffee Shop Assistant to join our new team as we launch "Coffee with New Hope". The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving a variety of beverages and food items, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. This role offers an opportunity to develop barista skills and gain experience in the hospitality industry, ensuring a positive experience for all customers.
The Coffee Shop is within a Community Church setting and the role involves supporting the Christian ethos of the organisation and engaging appropriately with customers in line with this. Duties
- Prepare and serve a range of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and speciality drinks, adhering to company standards.
- Assist customers with their orders in a courteous and professional manner.
- Handle food preparation tasks such as assembling toasties,sandwiches, salads, mezze bowls jacket potatoes or light snacks as required.
- Maintain cleanliness of the counter, seating area, kitchen, and equipment in accordance with food safety standards.
- Manage cash register operations, including processing payments accurately using cash or card.
- Restock supplies and ingredients to ensure smooth operation during shifts.
- Follow health and safety procedures diligently, including proper food handling and hygiene practices.
- Support team members during busy periods to ensure efficient service delivery.
Qualifications
- Previous barista experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations is advantageous.
- Experience in serving customers in a fast-paced environment is preferred.
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions accurately.
- Good time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively during busy periods.
- Ability to work well within a team and communicate clearly with colleagues and customers.
- A friendly attitude with a strong focus on delivering excellent customer service. This role provides an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain experience in the hospitality sector while working in a vibrant environment dedicated to quality service.
Pay: £13.45 per hour
