Overview
We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Production Roaster to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for expertly roasting coffee beans to bring out their optimal flavor profiles, ensuring consistency and quality in every batch. Your work will directly influence the flavor experience of our products, delighting customers and elevating our brand’s reputation. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in coffee production within a fast-paced, quality-focused environment dedicated to excellence.
The right individual will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and commitment. You will play an important role in supporting and maintaining our highest standards of BRCGS accreditation within our roastery.
Experience working with coffee or in a production environment is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Roasting Operations:
- Manage and execute daily roasting schedules per production forecasts.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain roasting equipment.
- Monitor roasting processes for consistency and quality; adjust as needed.
- Monitor website orders for home market and prepare for shipping in a timely manner
Quality Control:
- Conduct cuppings to evaluate coffee quality.
- Collaborate with Head of Coffee on assessing green coffee quality for roasting potential.
- Record and analyse roasting data to optimise consistency and flavour.
Production Forecasting and Planning:
- Develop and manage production forecasts to meet demand and optimise inventory.
- Adjust production schedules based on sales trends and seasonal demand.
- Coordinate with suppliers for timely raw material availability.
Sourcing and Supply Chain Management:
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to maintain freshness and quality.
Cost Management:
- Monitor and manage raw material and production costs.
- Collaborate on pricing strategies for new products.
- Analyse market trends and adjust pricing or sourcing strategies as needed.
Product Development:
- Partner with Head of Coffee to develop and launch new coffee products.
- Provide input on packaging, branding, and marketing strategies.
Collaboration and Communication:
Process Improvement:
- Continuously improve roasting processes, efficiency, and product quality.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in roasting technology.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organised roasting facility, adhering to food safety standards.
- Maintenance of HACCP and Traceability Systems
Other duties:
- Assist the warehouse team making deliveries when business needs demand it
- Take part in trade shows as the business needs to showcase and attract new customers
