Monday to Thursday 8.35am-9.20am and 2.40pm-3.25pm. 6 hours per week in total. The role will leave and drop off from our Portobello yard - EH15 2QA, though we could consider the applicant being picked up and dropped off enroute in Magdalene or Bingham.

Lothian Community Transport Services (LCTS) is an independent organisation that provides, promotes and supports high-quality passenger transport services. We all enjoy working as a team and are now looking for a new member to join us as a Passenger Assistant. This role will be primarily supporting one individual young person.
You’ll be helping to transport our passengers safely and comfortably, providing an outstanding service. You will be required to work from our site in Portobello. The transport we provided enables people to access a range of meaningful activities in our community.
We are looking for a caring, flexible and committed person to help us provide this transport. You will be responsible for the safety of passengers during these journeys and will ensure that the passengers board and alight safely as well as ensuring that any safety equipment is used correctly.
Job Description
· Ensuring passengers are carried in a safe and comfortable manner and providing assistance to passengers where required, including the safe operation of passenger lifts, steps and handrails.
· Using of Wheelchair Tie-Down & Occupant Restraint Systems.
· Seat removal and replacement.
· Transporting wheelchair users to and from the vehicle, performing manual handling of the wheelchair, and adhere to Health & Safety.
· Climbing steps / stairs, riding on the tail lift, and, where necessary, secure wheelchairs
Full training in the use of all safety equipment will be provided. You will need good communication skills as you will liaise daily with the passengers, carers and establishment staff. Experience is not essential: however some experience of assisting in accessible vehicles or working in a similar role would be an advantage for this position.
GENERAL
Through liaison with the Operations Co-ordinator:
· Assisting other staff in the performance of their duties.
· Attending meetings, courses and training events.
· This is a Safeguarding position, you will be working with children and vulnerable young adults and a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check will be required alongside completion of Safeguarding training. We welcome self-disclosure statements (disclosure letters) at interview stage.
· You will need to be safety focused as caring for the service users is paramount. You will need to be friendly and helpful as you will working with others in the team to deliver this service and it is important that everyone you deal with feels comfortable and reassured.
