Mining Shift Supervisor

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mining Shift Supervisor to lead safe, efficient mining and quarry operations. You'll supervise a team of up to 30 personnel operating heavy mobile plant, ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of safety, environmental compliance, and operational performance.
** This role requires you to pass a Drug and Alcohol test on day one **
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise daily mining/quarry operations during your shift.
- Manage a team of up to 30 employees.
- Oversee the safe operation of dozers, dump trucks, excavators, and other heavy plant.
- Deliver production targets while maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Complete shift handovers, reports, and operational documentation.
- Conduct inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Ensure compliance with the Quarries Regulations 1999, Health & Safety legislation, and environmental requirements.
- Support continuous improvement, training, and the development of site procedures.
Essential Requirements
- Supervisory experience within mining, quarrying, or heavy industry.
- Experience leading teams in a shift-based environment.
- Strong knowledge of the Quarries Regulations 1999, UK Health & Safety legislation, and environmental compliance.
- Experience supervising heavy mobile plant operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Competent in risk assessments, incident reporting, and operational documentation.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- IOSH Managing Safely.
- First Aid qualification.
- CPCS and/or MPQC qualifications.
- 15+ years' experience in open pit mining or quarrying.
- Previous appointed role under the Quarries Regulations 1999.
