OPM Furniture is a UK manufacturer of high-quality, bespoke workplace furniture. We design and manufacture furniture for some of the UK's leading architects, designers, furniture dealers and corporate clients, with projects ranging from individual meeting tables and credenzas through to large-scale workplace installations.
We are looking for a reliable, practical and hardworking Driver / Furniture Installer to join our growing team.
This is a hands-on role combining driving and deliveries with furniture installation, site work and assisting our workshop and project teams. A high standard of workmanship and attention to detail is essential, as much of the furniture we manufacture is bespoke, high-value and installed within premium office environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely load, secure, transport and unload furniture and associated equipment.
- Drive OPM's 3.5T Luton vehicles between our Essex workshop, suppliers and customer sites, predominantly in London and the South East.
- Deliver furniture to customer sites safely and on schedule.
- Assemble and install bespoke workplace furniture including meeting and boardroom tables, credenzas, storage, workstations and other specialist furniture.
- Assist with positioning and final adjustment of furniture to ensure installations are completed to a high standard.
- Read and work from drawings, floor plans and installation information.
- Carry out furniture relocations, alterations, reconfigurations.
- Use hand tools, power tools and appropriate lifting/handling equipment safely.
- Protect finished furniture throughout loading, transportation and installation.
- Carry out pre-delivery and post-installation checks and report any damage or quality issues immediately.
- Maintain company vehicles in a clean, organised and roadworthy condition and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
- Communicate professionally with clients, site managers, contractors and other members of the OPM team.
- Complete delivery paperwork, site documentation and other records as required.
- Follow OPM's health & safety procedures and customer site requirements at all times.
- Assist within the workshop with assembly, packing and preparation of furniture when required.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
- Full UK driving licence.
- Confident and competent driving a 3.5T LWB Luton van.
- Comfortable using standard hand and power tools.
- Practical, hands-on approach with good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work safely and carefully with high-value finished furniture.
- Good communication skills and a professional attitude when working on customer sites.
- Reliable, punctual and able to manage early starts where required.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in furniture installation, joinery, office furniture, removals or a similar role.
- Ability to read basic furniture drawings and floor plans.
- CSCS card or other relevant site qualifications.
- Manual handling and health & safety training.
Training can be provided for the right candidate, and we are equally interested in finding someone with the right attitude, practical ability and willingness to learn.
Physical Requirements
This is a physically demanding role involving regular manual handling.
- Applicants must be physically capable of safely lifting, carrying, pushing and positioning furniture and components.
- The role may involve individually handling items of up to approximately 25kg, where it is safe and appropriate to do so.
- Heavier, larger or awkward furniture must be handled as a team or with suitable lifting/handling equipment.
- The role requires regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling and working in different site environments.
- Manual handling training and appropriate equipment will be provided.

- Practical and solutions-focused – site conditions don't always go exactly to plan.
- A team player – willing to help with loading, installation, workshop preparation and whatever is required to get the job completed properly.
- Flexible – some projects may require early starts, longer days or occasional travel depending on site requirements.
What We Offer
- £25,000–£35,000 per annum, dependent on experience and ability.
