THE ROLE
A fixed term contract opportunity has arisen for a Coatings Technician based at Cowley Hill, St Helens, working on the Off-Line Coater. The successful applicant will be required to work continuous shifts under the supervision of the relevant Team Leader and the OLC1 Supervisor. S/he will normally work as part of the Off-Line Processing (OLP) Team but would also be expected to work flexibly across all areas of Float Manufacturing as and when required. It is expected that the FTC will be of 2 years’ duration.
The successful applicant will be required to operate coatings-related equipment in a safe manner; undertake quality control activities; and provide assistance and support for maintenance activities within the OLP area.
The jobholder will ensure that objectives are met, safe operating procedures are adhered to, best operating practices are adopted, and required standards of quality and customer service are achieved. Applicants will ideally be qualified to NVQ level 3 or equivalent, have previous experience of data analysis and problem-solving techniques. Experience of driving works vehicles would be preferred. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to work effectively in a team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operating and maintaining plant, equipment and information systems to prescribed procedures.

Strict adherence to safe operating procedures.

Contribution of technical knowledge and expertise to overcome problems and improve/take the operation forward.

To undertake Coatings SQC activities.

To take part in project teams and by assisting with training others as and when required.

To take part in problem-solving and process development projects as an individual or as part of a multi-discipline team using analytical and problem-solving techniques.

Knowledge of plant/equipment systems to operate the coatings process and the other areas of the site through shared skills.

Knowledge and operation of site emergency procedures

Assist on plant as required when not coating.

Glass moving vehicle/forklift truck driving and crane operation will also be required in line with production needs.
