At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose to improve people’s lives.
Help children and young people access education by joining our Home to School Travel Team.
Bath & North East Somerset Council serves a unique and vibrant area that blends rich heritage with natural beauty. Home to the iconic city of Bath a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its Roman Baths, Georgian architecture, and cultural vibrancy the district also encompasses stunning rural countryside in and around the Chew Valley, including parts of the Cotswolds and Mendip Hills, both designated National Landscapes. With a strong commitment to sustainability, innovation, and improving people’s lives, the council offers an exceptional environment in which to work.
About the Team
Bath & North East Somerset Council is looking for a motivated and organised Travel Officer to join our dedicated Home to School Travel Team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference by helping eligible children and young people travel safely to and from their educational setting.
About the Role
As a Travel Officer, you will manage a varied caseload, assessing transport applications in line with legislation and council policy, arranging suitable transport solutions, and working closely with families, schools, transport providers and internal colleagues. You’ll provide a high-quality customer service, respond to enquiries and ensure transport arrangements are delivered efficiently and effectively.
This role is based at Keynsham Civic Centre. We offer a flexible hybrid working arrangement, with the expectation that you will work from the office at least one day each week, with additional office attendance required for team meetings, training and service needs.
About You
You’ll need to be confident making decisions, managing completing priorities and communicating with a wide range of people, often in sensitive situations. We’re looking for someone who is organised, resilient, has excellent attention to detail and enjoys working as part of a supportive team.
If you’re passionate about delivering excellent public services and want a role where your work has a genuine impact on the lives of children and families across Bath & North East Somerset, we’d love to hear from you.
