The role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic South Ribble Youth Work Co-ordinator to lead and develop youth engagement programmes within the local community. The successful candidate will be responsible for organising activities, mentoring young people, and fostering a positive environment that encourages personal growth and community involvement. This role offers an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young people's lives through organised youth work initiatives. Building on the success of our Adlington satellite centre, Inspire is expanding its youth offer into South Ribble. This post will oversee the delivery of our outreach and satellite programmes, ensuring high-quality opportunities and support for young people across the area.
The South Ribble Coordinator will deliver engaging sessions over a six-month fixed-term contract, supporting young people’s personal, social, and emotional development.
Duties
- Oversee outreach and satellite provision across South Ribble, delivering sessions on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings - you will create safe, supportive environments where young people can build confidence, develop skills, improve wellbeing and form positive community connections.
- Build and maintain relationships with schools, parents/carers, and partner agencies - Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders to encourage engagement and support young people effectively.
- Identify young people’s needs and provide appropriate support and signposting to external services - Assess young people’s needs and provide guidance, support, and referrals where required.
- Act as Safeguarding Lead, following all procedures and working with Inspire’s on-call safeguarding system - Lead safeguarding within the provision, managing concerns in line with policy and procedures.
- Prepare and evaluate session plans in line with programme aims and adapt delivery as needed - Plan, deliver, and evaluate sessions, adapting them to meet changing needs.
- Complete all administration - including registers, reports and risk assessments.
- Support the day-to-day running of the building - ensuring health and safety standards are met.
- Coordinate, support, and supervise staff and volunteers within the provision - Provide guidance and support to staff and volunteers, ensuring consistent delivery
The Essentials
- Experience of working with young people aged 11-18 years.
- Experience of managing a team.
- Experience planning activities for young people aged 11-18 years.
- Knowledge of health and safety, diversity awareness and safeguarding best practice
- Ability to engage and build positive relationships with young people
- Experience of delivering a range of informal, creative activities to young people
- Able to work both as part of a team and under own initiative
- Able to communicate effectively with young people, parents, team members and members of the public
