We are seeking a highly organised and detail-focused Desktop Publisher to join the team at the Volkswagen Group National Learning Centre in Milton Keynes.
This role is ideal for someone with strong Adobe InDesign expertise, exceptional proofreading skills and a passion for producing high-quality learning materials. You will play a key role in developing, maintaining and publishing branded training content across a range of print and digital formats, supporting learning initiatives for Volkswagen Group brands.
Working closely with instructional designers, trainers and subject matter experts, you will ensure all learning materials are professionally designed, accurately formatted and aligned with brand and corporate identity standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and continuously improve branded Adobe InDesign templates in line with corporate identity and brand guidelines.
- Create, format and publish learning resources for both print and digital delivery.
- Convert existing content into professionally designed, accessible and engaging learner materials.
- Collaborate with designers, trainers and stakeholders to interpret requirements and deliver high-quality learning assets.
- Produce new courseware, workbooks, guides and supporting learning resources from concept through to final publication.
- Quality-check all content to ensure accuracy, consistency, formatting and adherence to style guidelines.
- Manage assigned projects effectively, maintaining workflow, version control and documentation to meet agreed deadlines.
- Liaise with external print suppliers to ensure high-quality production and timely delivery of materials.
- Support the continuous improvement of publishing processes, templates and content standards.
- Contribute to digital content development initiatives and support the introduction of new publishing technologies and tools.
- Work closely with the Technical Design & Content Development Manager to support departmental objectives and deliverables.
About You
The ideal candidate will combine strong technical publishing capabilities with excellent attention to detail, communication skills and a commitment to quality.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign and experience using wider Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
- Proven experience in desktop publishing, template development and document layout design.
- Exceptional proofreading and editing skills with a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent command of written English, including spelling, punctuation and grammar.
- Strong understanding of document formatting, design consistency and brand application.
- Experience managing multiple projects and competing priorities while maintaining high standards.
- Strong organisational, communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders across different teams and functions.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a willingness to learn new tools, technologies and ways of working.
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality outputs.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience working with HTML5-based content or maintaining digital learning materials.
- Familiarity with In5 or similar tools used to convert InDesign content for digital and online delivery.
- Knowledge of learning and development environments, training content or educational publishing.
- Interest in modern design trends, digital publishing and learning technologies.

Contract: Permanent / Full Time
Working Hours: Monday to Friday / 40 hours per week
Place of Work: VWG National Learning Centre, Wymbush, Milton Keynes.
We currently operate hybrid working with at least 60% of time in the National Learning Centre with the opportunity to work up to 40% remotely. Time spent in the office may change.
There will also be times when it may be necessary to work from alternative locations, e.g. VWG facilities and retailers, and other sites as necessary to perform the role.
Pre-employment Checks: Calex will undertake the relevant/standard employment checks with any successful candidate. This includes contacting all nominated referees, as well as checking candidate ID, driving licence (if appropriate) and right to work in the UK. Some roles may also be subject to further pre-employment checks (confirmation will be provided through the recruitment process). The nature of this role may necessitate that we undertake a DBS check.
