About the role
We are currently recruiting for a Level 1 Rolling Stock Technician to join our maintenance team supporting the safe and reliable operation of modern rail vehicles. This is an excellent opportunity for technicians with mechanical and electrical experience who are looking to transition into or develop a career within the rail industry.
The role would particularly suit individuals with a background in light vehicle, heavy vehicle, plant, or fleet maintenance who possess strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
The RSM Level 1 Technician will be working under the shift supervisor, ensuring that all work is carried out safely, accurately, to standard, on time and capture any work arising in the reporting system XVPlus.
Work to achieve high standards of performance and provide guidance, training, and support to team members, fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and excellence.
Work safely and raise any safety concerns and defects using appropriate reporting channels in line with company procedures.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned and corrective maintenance on rolling stock in accordance with maintenance schedules.

Perform mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis on tram systems.

Support inspections, servicing, component replacement, and system testing.

Assist with repair and overhaul activities on rolling stock equipment.

Accurately record work carried out using maintenance management systems.

Work safely in accordance with company procedures and rail industry standards.
About you

You are a proactive and detail-oriented individual passionate about railway maintenance.

As a level 1 Rolling Stock Technician, you excel in a team setting, performing planned maintenance and reactive maintenance, diagnosing faults, and carrying out repairs.

You meticulously capture and report data, ensuring all tasks are documented and issues addressed promptly.

You enhance your knowledge of Rolling Stock, Fault Diagnosis, and scheduled tram maintenance, making you a valuable team member.

Under the guidance of supervisors and Lead Technicians, you follow instructions precisely and assist in inspections and data capture.

You maintain tools and equipment in excellent condition, adhere to stores processes, and contribute innovative ideas for improvement.

Previous engineering or technical experience in a mechanical and/or electrical role.

Experience working on vehicles, plant equipment, or similar mechanical systems.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings or manuals.

Good understanding of health and safety practices in a maintenance environment.

Strong teamwork and communication skills.
