We are looking for an experienced Warehouse & Production Manager to join our growing business.
We are an established company specialising in the sales and distribution of sheet materials to the Sign Making & Engraving Industry. We also manufacture high-quality signs and labels using CO₂ laser equipment, supplying customers throughout the UK, including Botanical Gardens, Horticultural Organisations and other specialist industries.
This is a hands-on leadership role where the successful applicant will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of our warehouse and production departments. Working closely with the Directors and Sales Team, you will ensure production schedules are met, customer orders are manufactured to the highest standards, stock is accurately controlled, and our warehouse operates efficiently and safely.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience managing warehouse and production operations, with the ability to lead, motivate and develop a small team while maintaining excellent quality standards and customer service.
Although knowledge of CorelDRAW and laser manufacturing equipment would be advantageous, full product and process training will be provided where required.
Main Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operation of the warehouse and production departments.
Lead, motivate and develop the production and warehouse team.
Plan and prioritise workloads to ensure customer orders are completed accurately and on time.
Monitor production quality and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Take responsibility for all Health & Safety matters across the warehouse and production departments, ensuring compliance with current legislation, carrying out risk assessments, maintaining safety records, and promoting a strong safety culture.
Act as the company's appointed First Aider (or be willing to undertake First Aid training if not already qualified).
Ensure Health & Safety procedures are followed and maintained throughout the workplace.
Manage inventory levels, stock accuracy and warehouse organisation.
Liaise with the Sales Team to coordinate customer orders and production schedules.
Assist with the design and manufacture of customer labels and signs where required.
Oversee the operation and maintenance of production equipment, including CO₂ lasers, table saws, guillotines, bench drills and bevelling machines.
Monitor equipment performance and arrange servicing or repairs when necessary.
Ensure Sage Line 50 stock records remain accurate and up to date.
Support the Directors in improving operational efficiency and implementing new processes.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the warehouse and production areas.
Additional Responsibilities
- Preparation and dispatch of customer orders.
- Liaise with delivery drivers regarding incoming deliveries and stock locations.
- Assist with goods inward inspections and stock control.
- Occasionally answer incoming telephone calls and deal with customer enquiries.
- Provide support and training to other members of the team where required.
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience in a Warehouse and Production Management role.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Experience managing Health & Safety within a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- First Aid at Work qualification (preferred) or willingness to undertake training.
- Excellent organisational and planning abilities.
- Good understanding of warehouse operations and stock management.
- Experience using computer-based stock control systems (Sage Line 50 experience desirable).
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet production deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team.
Desirable Qualifications
- First Aid at Work certificate.
- Experience using CorelDRAW or similar design software.
- Experience operating or supervising laser manufacturing equipment.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement techniques.
