We are seeking a Sustainability Lead to lead and manage sustainability activities, ensuring they meet client needs, industry standards, and legal requirements.
This role focuses on embedding sustainability into day-to-day operations, tracking performance, and driving continuous improvement across environmental and social commitments.
Job Description
We are looking for a candidate who can analyse sustainability data, collaborate with clients and internal teams, and coordinate initiatives such as carbon reduction, waste management, and biodiversity projects.
You will play a key role in aligning client objectives with wider sustainability strategies and ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage sustainability activities in line with client requirements, industry standards, and legislation
- Track and report on sustainability performance, including carbon emissions, waste, social value, and other commitments
- Analyse data to demonstrate progress, identify risks and opportunities, and guide improvements
- Collaborate with clients, sustainability teams, and internal stakeholders to embed sustainability into operations
- Coordinate sustainability projects such as biodiversity, volunteering, waste reduction, and energy efficiency initiatives
- Ensure compliance with environmental and social legislation and support external certification audits
- Manage and report against contractual KPIs, SLAs, and sustainability targets, ensuring timely delivery of reports
- Support and train contract teams, sharing best practice and driving consistent standards
- Work with procurement and supply chain to meet contract sustainability requirements
- Identify opportunities for alignment between client goals and wider organisational sustainability strategy
- Support delivery of environmental sustainability plans and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
- Experience supporting sustainability within facilities management (FM), government, or public sector environments
- Strong understanding of environmental systems, carbon reporting, waste data, and related areas
- Good knowledge of sustainability topics, legislation, and reporting frameworks
- Proven experience engaging and collaborating with clients and stakeholders
- Strong data analysis skills with experience in routine sustainability reporting
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to client sites (car/car allowance provided)
