Looking for a varied role where you can combine science, systems and customer support?
We're recruiting for a growing biotechnology company that develops and manufactures high-performance PCR and molecular biology reagents, supporting customers across academia, biotechnology, diagnostics and pharmaceutical industries worldwide.
They're looking for a Commercial Team Administrator to become a key part of their Oxford-based Sales & Marketing team.
This isn't a traditional admin position. You'll work across CRM management, reporting, customer enquiries, data, logistics and commercial operations, making it a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with systems, solving problems and keeping things running efficiently.
The Role
You'll provide day-to-day operational and administrative support across the commercial team, while taking responsibility for several of the systems and processes that underpin its activities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the central customer inbox and responding to enquiries
- Logging and coordinating sample, quotation and meeting requests
- Maintaining and developing the Workbooks CRM, including reports, dashboards, data updates and database housekeeping
- Producing routine and ad hoc commercial reports
- Working with data across CRM and finance systems
- Updating customer pricing and ensuring information remains accurate across systems
- Coordinating merchandise, couriers and shipments for events, distributors and promotions
- Managing commercial platforms, subscriptions and the Partner Portal
- Supporting event logistics, including shipping and documentation
- Assisting with onboarding of new commercial team members
- Supporting ISO audit preparation and associated documentation
- Providing wider day-to-day support to the Sales & Marketing team
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is highly organised, confident with technology and systems, and comfortable working with data.
You'll ideally have:
- Strong Excel skills, including confidence working with and manipulating data
- Experience using and maintaining a CRM system
- Strong general IT and systems knowledge
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset
- A customer-focused approach
We'd be particularly interested if you also have:
- HTML or website editing/coding experience
- Experience creating CRM reports or dashboards
- Knowledge of SQL or database/query languages
- Experience with Workbooks CRM
- Experience using finance systems such as QuickBooks
- Previous commercial operations, sales support or administration experience
- Experience organising shipments, couriers or event logistics
- A Life Science degree or experience within a scientific environment
You don't need to have all of the above. The key is that you're technically confident and already have good experience with Excel, CRM systems, HTML/web editing or similar systems and data-based work.
Why Join?
You'll join a growing biotechnology business and work closely with colleagues across Sales, Marketing and Product Management, giving you much broader exposure than you'd typically get in an administration position.
You'll benefit from:
- A genuinely varied role with responsibility for key commercial systems and processes
- Full training on the company's products and Workbooks CRM
- Exposure to CRM, reporting, sales, marketing, logistics and commercial operations
- Time spent with different areas of the business to understand how everything works
- A collaborative and supportive team environment
- Opportunities to take on greater responsibility as the company grows
Salary & Benefits
- £25,500–£29,500, depending on skills and experience
- 26 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays
- Additional holiday through long service
- Company pension
- Comprehensive onboarding and training
- Long-term development opportunities
Location
Oxford – OX4 2JY
This is an office-based position, five days per week, with working hours of approximately 9:00am–5:30pm and some flexibility.
