Housekeeper — Holiday Lodges, Haddington
Days: Wednesdays & Sundays (our changeover days)
Hours: follow our bookings — typically 12–3pm each changeover day in peak season (May–September); quieter in winter, when some weeks may have reduced or no hours
Pay: £15.00 per hour, £22.50 per hour on Sundays (time and a half)
Probation: first 2 months at £13.50 per hour on Wednesdays / £22.50 on Sundays
Benefits: pension contributions after 1 year
Contract: casual (zero-hours) — shifts usually confirmed in a week in advance
About the role
We run four studio holiday lodges just outside Haddington and are looking for a reliable housekeeper to prepare them between guest stays. Because the work follows our bookings, this role suits someone looking for flexible extra income rather than fixed weekly hours — busy through the summer, quieter over winter. We are building more lodges over the coming years, so hours will grow steadily. A local cleaning company covers the other days of the week, so the ability to occasionally cover holidays or sick days (with prior notice) would be helpful.
As we are outside town with limited public transport, your own car or transport is essential.
Duties
- Clean lodges to a high standard and prepare them for the next guests checking in
- Strip and change beds and linens
- Laundry — wash, tumble dry, iron and fold linens and towels
- Empty bins and sort mixed recycling
- Replenish welcome snacks and toiletries
- Clean windows regularly
- Occasional deep-cleaning tasks
- Keep the linen and supplies store clean and organised
- Check for and report any damage or maintenance issues
Requirements
- Housekeeping or cleaning experience helpful but not essential — full training provided
- Own car or transport, due to our rural location
- Willing to complete a Basic Disclosure check (Disclosure Scotland)
- Right to live and work in the UK
Pay: £15.00-£22.50 per hour
