We’re looking for an experienced Project Curator to join National Trust Cymru, supporting projects across some of Wales’ most special places. From historic buildings and collections, to landscapes and gardens, you’ll play a vital role in how we care for and share the stories that make Wales unique.
This is an opportunity to shape how people connect with Welsh places, their history, identity and future, through creative, research-led and engaging projects.

What it's like to work here:As a Project Curator in Wales, you’ll work across multiple sites in Wales providing knowledge of place, culture and heritage.
You’ll collaborate with colleagues across Wales, from property teams to regional specialists, helping to deliver projects that reflect the richness of Welsh history, language and landscapes, while creating meaningful and inclusive visitor experience's.
Your contractual location will be the National Trust office but our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We’ll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40–60% of your working week. Or for pan-regional roles: As this role covers the Welsh region your contractual location will be the nearest National Trust consultancy office to your home location, but our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We’ll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40–60% of your working week.

- What you'll be doing:Providing expert curatorial advice to project and property teams across Wales
- Using your knowledge of Welsh history, landscapes, collections and culture to inform project development and decision-making
- Shaping interpretation and storytelling, ensuring it reflects the Spirit of Place and resonates with local communities
- Supporting the creation of engaging visitor experiences, including exhibitions, programming and digital content
- Leading or commissioning research, ensuring it is shared and embedded within projects
- Supporting project planning and delivery, including budgets, risks, timelines and resources
- Working with other consultants, contractors and specialists, as needed
Coaching and supporting colleagues and volunteers to build curatorial skills and confidence

Who we're looking forYou’ll be a collaborative and knowledgeable curator who understands the particular context and opportunities of working in Wales:
- Expertise in areas such as history, art history, archaeology, landscapes or architectural history
- An understanding of Welsh heritage and culture
- Experience of developing interpretation and storytelling that engages diverse audiences
- Knowledge of collections care and conservation standards
- Experience working within project environments, including planning and delivery
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships across a wide range of stakeholders
- Experience of managing budgets, risks and complex projects
