In Summary...
As a Fulfilment Manager at smol, you are a vital member of our site management team, responsible for the day-to-day excellence of our fulfilment operations. This role balances strategic oversight with hands-on leadership. You will lead, empower, and mentor the Fulfilment Team to meet key KPIs and drive operational growth. Working closely with the Head of Operations, you’ll champion a culture of Care, Fairness, and Curiosity while ensuring our processes remain safe, inclusive, and efficient as we continue to scale our mission.
This is a site-based role requiring daily presence at our warehouse facility to lead our Fulfilment Team.
What does the role involve?...
Operational Management:
Monitor and maintain fulfilment line productivity and manage the order & dispatch portal efficiently.
Liaise with the cloud software team and smol tech team to proactively escalate any order handling issues.
Daily opening/closing of the site as required.
Collaborate with on-site and wider leadership teams on projects to evolve our fulfilment approach and support business growth.
Planning and Reporting:
Plan and manage people resources to meet daily fulfilment needs efficiently.
Create regular reports and communicate with the leadership team daily on fulfilment outputs, quality, and forward planning.
Set up daily KPIs to measure and monitor operational performance and adapt strategies in collaboration with the Head of Operations.
Process Improvement:
Drive improvement by sharing ideas, feedback, and updates across the fulfilment team and Supply Chain operations.
Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and visual guides for all fulfilment team activities.
People Leadership:
Lead, manage, and support the team through the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, absence management, performance reviews, mentoring, and guidance to foster a high-performance, engaging culture.
Ensure the team has the right skills and knowledge by identifying and addressing learning needs.
Lead investigations, grievance, and disciplinary meetings as required.
Set clear, measurable objectives and delegate tasks effectively to ensure workload balance and the timely achievement of targets.
Provide and seek feedback from the team, encouraging a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Health & Safety:
Develop and deliver the highest standards of health and safety across the site.
Ensure health and safety guidelines are followed at all times to maintain a safe work environment for everyone.
Perform any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

You will need/be...
Essential:
Previous experience in an active fulfilment/dispatch environment, ideally in a hands-on B2C FMCG leadership role - although other industries will be considered.
Strong experience and confidence in the use of cloud-based technologies and IT hardware & software.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to inspire others and manage difficult conversations.
Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and attention to detail.
Strong time management skills and ability to manage conflicting priorities effectively.
Desirable:
Ability to speak and understand other European languages.
Experience of supporting a team through change.

The smol print
This role is based at our warehouse in Marden, Kent.
The working hours are 7am-5pm with a daily 1 hour unpaid lunch break (45 hour working week).
This role requires a flexible schedule including bank holidays and weekend working as required.
